What is Edan Society?
The Edan Society is a non-profit social-service network organized in historic Concord Massachusetts.
It consists of a virtual network of college campus-chapters called Frasorities - virtual adaptations on the model of traditional selective college fraternities and sororities.
What is the Edan Society Idea?
Edan Society is for thoughtful women and men who are not drawn to "dating" strangers, or have become “dating” exhausted from the initial excitement and game-playing of modern “hook-up” culture, and alcohol-fueled interacting.
Edan is an unapologetic, old-fashioned, humane innovation enabled by modern technology, with a touch of mystery.
The Edan Society concept is based on research into compatibility-factors for the various kinds of relationships, as exemplified in the Edan profile form.
What is the purpose of the Edan Society?
Edan Society provides a member-requested, mutually accepted, social or romantic, individual introduction to another potentially compatible Edan Society member whom they would otherwise not have the opportunity to meet.
What does membership in Edan Society cost?
Membership in the Edan Society is free. Edan Society is funded by grants and donations.
How does one become a member?
Applicants for membership submit:
· An information profile and at least one candid or posed photo indicating date of photo.
· Confidential contact-information that does not include applicant's identity or residence-address.
Profiles are reviewed, and applicants are informed if accepted for membership.
What is the charge for a mutually accepted introduction?
Edan Society is funded by grants and donations. If a prospective introduction is mutually accepted, both members are asked for a voluntary donation in an amount reflective of their financial circumstance and the value they give to the introduction.
How do introductions happen?
Active member-profiles are regularly reviewed for the kind of introduction [professional, social, or romantic] requested by the member. Members decide whether they want their profiles to remain active for introductions.
When a prospective introduction is determined, the two members are informed, and provided with the profiles and photos of the other, without any identifying or contact-information.
If both members accept the proposed introduction, they are informed of the mutual acceptance, and asked to indicate what specific contact-information should be provided to each-other.
Timing for receiving a proposed introduction is open-ended, based only on a continuing search for a potentially compatible match between two active members.
